On September 15, 1926, at the Princess Theater in downtown Douglas, President John Hunton called to order the first annual meeting of the Wyoming Pioneer Association. For nearly a century, members of the Pioneers have met in unison with the annual Wyoming State Fair in Douglas. In 2012, using a donation from the estate of Ruthe James Williams, the Pioneers constructed a beautiful conference center. Today’s Pioneer members meet on the Thursday of State Fair week, but over the course of state fair week host several fair-time activities, presentations and gatherings. Consider becoming a member of the Pioneers and join their effort to preserve and protect the Cowboy State’s history.
